Authenticated pieces to discover
Blancpain
Blancpain traces its origins to 1735 in Villeret, in the Bernese Jura, where Jehan-Jacques Blancpain set up his workshop. In 1953, the house launched the Fifty Fathoms, one of the first modern diving watches, developed with combat divers of the French Navy. It is now part of the Swatch Group.
Most sought-after collections
- Fifty Fathoms: diving watch with a unidirectional rotating bezel.
- Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe: a more understated, thinner version.
- Villeret: dress watches, including the complete calendar with moon phase.
- Ladybird, Léman and Air Command.
What drives value
- The collection and diameter (the Fifty Fathoms comes in several sizes).
- The metal and the bezel material.
- The complications: complete calendar, flyback chronograph.
- Whether the original box, papers and strap or bracelet are included.
Price benchmarks are published on the Value page: they are market estimates, not sale prices.
Authentication checkpoints
- Consistency between case number and documents.
- Quality of the bezel and its engravings.
- Movement finishing visible through the caseback.
- Inspection by a watchmaker.
None of these signs is enough on its own to guarantee authenticity: features vary across years and references. Every piece is examined as a whole by our experts before any offer.
How to describe your search
- Give the collection, diameter and complication you want.
- Specify the dial colour.
- Tell us whether the original strap or bracelet is essential.
We authenticate and catalogue Blancpain watches one by one. Each item is authenticated in Paris before being listed online: its material, serial number, hardware, provenance and condition are all checked and recorded on a personal certificate of authenticity.
