Omega

"Master Chronometer, Co-Axial movement, anti-magnetic"

Omega is a Swiss watch manufacture founded in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. The brand has distinguished itself through its technical innovations and prestigious associations: official timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, NASA's watch (Speedmaster, the only watch qualified for space missions), and James Bond's partner. The Speedmaster "Moonwatch" is the only watch to have been worn on the Moon.

Le dossier Omega

Omega at a glance

Omega, founded in 1848 in Bienne, Suisse, holds a singular place in watchmaking. The maison built its name on a precise territory: chronometry, Sports watches.

Its unmistakable signature: master Chronometer, Co-Axial movement, anti-magnetic.

The Omega models to know

On the secondary market, the value of a Omega watch is decided first by the reference. Here are the lines our experts see most often — and those that resell best.

  • Speedmaster (1957) — The Moonwatch, the only watch to have been worn on the Moon.
  • Seamaster (1948) — James Bond's watch, a professional diver.
  • Constellation (1952) — Classic elegance with a "Pie Pan" dial.

The pre-owned Omega market

The pre-owned watch market has normalised since the 2022 peaks: steel sports references keep a premium, while gold and dress models currently offer the best entry points.

How we authenticate a Omega piece

Every piece that joins Monogram Paris follows the same protocol in our Paris workshops: no catalogue photography, no supplier imagery, only shots of the actual item.

  • Case and movement numbers recorded and cross-checked against the registers
  • Dial, indexes and hands: printing, luminova and any relume documented
  • Movement opened by a watchmaker: calibre, finishing, service parts
  • Amplitude and instantaneous rate checked before listing
  • Bracelet, deployant clasp and links inspected one by one

Care and storage

  • Service recommended every 5 to 7 years depending on the calibre
  • Water resistance test after every case opening
  • Avoid magnetic fields (speakers, magnetic bags, tablets)
