Hermès International S.A. is a French luxury leather goods, ready-to-wear, and accessories house. Founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès as a harness and saddlery workshop, the house gradually diversified while preserving its excellent artisanal savoir-faire. Hermès bags, particularly the Birkin and Kelly, have become ultimate symbols of luxury and prized investments.

Value over time

The value of a pre-owned Hermès bag depends on its size, leather, condition, accessories and demand; no return is guaranteed.

Modèles fondateurs de Hermès

  1. Birkin — 1984

The world's most coveted bag, created in 1984 following a chance encounter between Jean-Louis Dumas and Jane Birkin.

  2. Kelly — 1935

Immortalised by Grace Kelly in 1956, a symbol of timeless elegance with its Touret clasp.

  3. Constance — 1959

A sleek design recognisable by its H clasp, created by Catherine Chaillet.

Founded in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, initially a harness-maker and saddler in Paris, Hermès has never compromised on artisanal manufacturing: one bag = one artisan, from cutting to fitting the hardware. This commitment explains the structural rarity of boutique offerings — and the strength of the authenticated pre-owned market.

Which Hermès model to choose?

The Birkin remains the flagship, very closely followed by the Kelly (more structured, more formal). The Constance, with its H buckle, is appealing for its sleek crossbody format. The Picotin Lock, more accessible, is one of the most sought-after everyday Hermès bags. The Garden Party, Evelyne, Bolide, and Lindy complete the selection — each with its own use and value.

Why buy pre-owned?

The wait at Hermès boutiques is now structural (sometimes several years for a Birkin). The authenticated secondary market provides immediate access — often at a lower price than new for classic leather models, and always above new for highly sought-after pieces (Birkin 25, exotics). At Monogram Paris, each piece is authenticated then immediately available.

Frequently asked questions — Buying Hermès

How is the authenticity of a Hermès piece guaranteed?

Each piece is examined by our expert firm (Entrupy AI-assisted analysis, complemented by a manual review for leather goods). Stitching, hardware, markings, date code, and accessories are checked one by one. A Monogram Paris certificate of authenticity is provided to the buyer.

Shipping within 10 to 14 working days after authentication, insured door-to-door (UPS, Chronopost). Free delivery for purchases over 1 000 €; personal handover possible in Paris by appointment.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Interest-free payment in 3 instalments is offered for baskets up to 5 000 € (subject to eligibility); beyond this, payment is made by credit card or bank transfer. Apple Pay and Google Pay are also accepted.

What is the returns policy?

As each piece is unique and authenticated, returns are not accepted except in cases of hidden defect or proven non-conformity. Before any purchase, our advisor will answer your questions, share additional photos, and arrange a video call if you wish (contact@monogramparis.com).
