Caviar (grained calfskin) is more scratch-resistant and retains its shape better — preferable for daily use. Lambskin is softer, more precious, with a more delicate patina — ideal for evening wear or collecting. Gold-Hardware (GHW) remains the most traditional; Silver-Hardware (SHW) is more contemporary.
